Up till this year, I continue to attend Astro Club sessions with the JC Astronomy Club every Friday evening. Often they conduct lectures on different topics related to astronomy, which some people may find boring, but i find interesting to listen to. Occasionally if the sky is clear and cloudless, we will carry our equipment and telescopes to the high school field for star gazing. I find attending this JC CCA very enriching as I have learnt much from those club sessions, and will continue to participate in the CCA in the future.
However, towards the end of the year, the weekly Friday CCA session is cancelled as the J2 seniors have to prepare for their A Levels. Despite this, I will still continue to attend their CCA sessions next year.
Year 2011
Since young, I have been very interested in Science, mainly astronomy. Ever since my mother bought a jigsaw puzzle of the solar system for me when I was 6, I have developed a keen interest in astronomy! I like to browse through and read books as well as watch TV shows relating to astronomy. Astronomy does not only consist of physics alone, but chemistry and even biology as well!
In Hwa Chong Institution, even though the high school does not have a astronomy club, this did not stop me from expanding my knowledge in this field. I went on to join the Hwa Chong Astro Club, which is a CCA in the Junior College section of HCI. I participate in their club sessions held once a week on Friday evenings. I plan on taking part in astronomy competitions held between schools, such as the Astro Challenge held by Raffles and HCI every year.
